Jo is a true healer and has one of the most beautiful spirits I’ve ever known in a person! A big part of my story is that I had suffered with a frozen shoulder for over a year before finding Jo. She worked with me, starting right from where I was - hardly ANY movement! Little by little, I began to have more and more movement. When my shoulder would get ‘out of place’ over the months, Jo could literally barely touch it and it would pop right back where it belonged. I called it magic! :)  Not only that, Jo trained me with weights, cardio and more. Over the years, Jo took me from a person who was weak physically and unmotivated to exercise and made those things become not only a joy, but life-changing. I can also attest to her skills with massage and Reiki - again she is a true healer. There just aren’t enough words.

Out of 5 stars she is a 10!  Jo brings to the exercise world something that is sadly lacking in this arena 100% safety when exercising.  I’ve trained with different physical therapists and sports trainers and no one has even come close to her understanding how to exercise safely and effectively.  She points out small things like "1 shoulder being higher than the other …what can happen over time is…", 'your wrist is at angle that could get injured’ etc.  She explains why these adjustments are important and could cause injury if not done corrected.  Now most people in the business do this to some degree, but she goes the extra mile because she understands the body so well through her own arduous training.  No trainer I have ever seen, or ever known of, has come close to matching her knowledge of the body and the importance of correct form.

Her work is incredibly effective:  I spoke to two of her clients who had increased bone density through her program of exercise and nutrition.  They were thrilled with their results as they both had certified results in reversing bone loss. The kind of training she does is safe for older people as it will not wear out their joints.  She uses light weights and she will show you how to work the muscle to exhaustion in order to build muscle.  It works!

In addition, she is a lovely person that truly cares about her clients.  She loves her work and is patient, kind and yet will give you an amazing workout that with just a few light weights you will definitely feel the next day.

She has a unique offering and you are so lucky if you get to be her client.  She is a gem!

I have been a client of Jo McLaughlin  for 3 years.

She has taught me proper technique when doing exercises.  This has improved my form and overall health.

I have learned how to do proper push-ups using all my muscles, proper chin-ups, and effective back exercises.  I also used Jo as a Life Coach where she has guided me in the right direction in my everyday life and making sound decisions.

Jo McLaughlin also trains my mother, Dee Merguerian.  Jo has taught my mother how to walk properly and use her cane to walk and straighten up her back which is hunched right now.

Both my mother and I have really benefited from the physical therapy provided by Jo McLaughlin.  We are very grateful for her expertise and are planning to continue with her.

Whether you are a beginner and need to learn about proper technique when conducting exercise, Jo McLaughlin is a great teacher.

I highly recommend Jo McLaughlin for physical therapy for both the young, middle-aged, and elderly.

I am very impressed with Jo’s technical knowledge and ability to identify and target my specific musculoskeletal problem areas.

The exercise protocols that Jo has selected to correct my tissue issues are carefully thought out,…and,… effective.

And,… last but not least,…. Her level of patience is commendable.

I've had a few different personal trainers over the years, and my favorite by far, is Jo Mclaughlin.  She is the most caring, nurturing, loving person as well as a knowledgeable trainer who is a stickler on correct form so you won't get hurt while working out.  She is gentle but trough.  She is very health conscious and highly educated in her field.  Jo will build you form the inside out.  Working with Jo took  20 years off my life.  I am much healthier and way stronger at 73 than I was when I first started training with Jo.  Back then I felt like I was in my eighties.  So weak, no balance, no energy, and had an untoned body.  Jo genuinely cares about the health of each of her clients.  Her dedication to helping everyone who trains with her is for you to become healthier, stronger, and happier.  Thank you Jo for changing my life!

I could see my scoliosis getting worse - I had a double dose.  I was bending forwards and listing to the right as well.  I felt as though I couldn't get a deep breath, as my shoulders were rounded and age was taking it's toll.  That's when I met Jo McLaughlin. What a breath of fresh air and optimism!  With her encouragement and knowledge, hard work and her "just one more, just one more!", I am straighter and stronger than I was.  Yes, I still have scoliosis, but with her help and guidance, I am not limited to what I can do and my breathing strength is fine.  She worked with me through 2 complete knee replacements and I now hike and work in the garden with no problems or pain.  She is patient, kind, thorough, and encourages me to push myself a little more each week.  I highly recommend Jo to anyone who wants to live life to the fullest.

Have you ever been in a fitness/wellness slump?   I'm a yoga teacher who has used yoga for pain management most of my life.  I knew the root problem really  was around my scoliosis and posture as a result of a lifetime of bad habits and structural issues.  Not to mention that my BMI index had gone up during COVID. Jo expertly assessed my situation and made immediate adjustments to how I walk and workout.  Her nutritional assessment was so skilled and motivational.  I feel like a new person!  I'm in this industry and Jo's knowledge is really exceptional.

Pushing my muscles to the limit with Jo and my classmates is one of the best things I’ve done for myself in a very long time.  My body is stronger and straighter and my confidence is improving.  Jo has a way of, very gently, making you do more than you thought you could, while reinforcing the need to “listen" to your body’s needs. Her sessions are focused and effective in every way; building strength in body and mind.  All this hard work and focus, ironically, can result in lots of laughter and camaraderie with one’s classmates who are also working to their limits.  It seems making one’s muscles ache with other people doing the same thing can be hilarious.

It is a plus for me also that I can pay for each lesson as I go and not have to commit to a gym membership.  The only thing making me go twice a week is my desire to get better, and that, I think is where I want my motivation to be.

There are many ways to improve one’s life and I would recommend Jo’s strength training class to anyone wishing to do so.
